Cannonball day 2: Flow and Dual Slalom

Thredbo Cannonball, done and dusted for 2026!!!

Cannonball is always a busy week. Up early, big days shooting trackside on the mountain, editing late into the night so the images don’t pile up, sleep, then up early and do it all again.

Below and the following few posts are a few of the images I took on day 2. All the images can be found over on the Outer Image website here

Fox Flow Motion

Flow track is probably my least favourite track of the event. It’s still great fun, but I prefer shooting the other tracks on the mountain. I think it’s because I have been shooting on this track almost from day 1 working as Outer Image way back in the days when shooting for Rocky Trail, and now shooting this trail Cannonball and Interschools for maybe 10 or 11 years. I do struggle a bit to find fresh dynamic angles. Thankfully, Thredbo MTB are on it. They add new bits every so often, and I usually make a b-line straight for those. Nothing new this year that I saw, but there were still a couple of new corners from last year that I hadn’t visited.

Maxxis Dual Slalom

The Dual Slalom is short and sweet, and I always take way too many photos. It’s a great event with a great atmosphere when the crowds gather round to watch all those who qualified.

This year, the addition of a couple of small features gave it some added interest. A small wallride was a great focal point and was probably my favourite shot of the day.

Day 1: Specialized All-mountain

Day 3: Rockshox DH Seeding and Oakley Pumptrack

Day 4: Rockshox Aus DH Open and Deity Whip Wars
